How to travel the world with almost no money | Tomislav Perko | TEDxTUHH


Many people daydream about traveling the world, but all of them have the same excuse — lack of money. Tomislav, after traveling the world for years with almost no money, shows how it is possible for everyone to do the same, if they really want to.

Tomislav Perko, 29, is a travel writer from Croatia. After a career of a stockbroker, broke because of the financial crisis, he hits the road and turns it into his home. He uses alternative ways of traveling – hitchhiking, couchsurfing, working/volunteering, and manages to wander around the world with just a little bit of money in his pocket, meeting the most amazing people on the way.

He has travelled through Estonia and Finland as well as hiked alone in the French mountains in order to immerse himself in the local culture and has attempted to learn many of the world’s most challenging languages such as Mandarin and Estonian. Hes not only an excellent student but also a talented orator, which has led him to participate in an international debate at Yale university last year. Today, he wants to offer some insight on how to learn languages quickly and effectively and help us understand how polyglots manage to find the time and energy to learn so many languages in one lifetime.

Since that time she has established the Brain Behaviour Lab, recruited and trained over 40 graduate students, published more than 80 papers and been awarded over $5 million in funding.

Dr. Boyd’s efforts are leading to the development of novel, and more effective, therapeutics for individuals with brain damage, but they are also shedding light on broader applications. By learning new concepts, taking advantage of opportunities, and participating in new activities, you are physically changing who you are, and opening up a world of endless possibility.

Ms. Yukiko Nakayama is the representative director of U-ENGLISH

corporation. She also works as a full-time lecturer at Japan Society for

Technical Communication (JSTC), and as a part-time lecturer in the

engineering departments of various universities in Japan, including

Kyoto University. She has passed the Grade-1 EIKEN Test in Practical

English Proficiency and the Level-1 English Technical Writing Test,

including an honorable mention award from the Ministry of Education,

Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. Her job focuses on the revision

and translation of technical manuscripts as well as patents. She also

teaches technical English at various companies, universities, and

technical colleges, and has written textbooks on the subject.​
